Copywriting: Retail

At the Science Museum, I was responsible for drafting fun, on-brand email copy for products in the museum’s gift shop. Various themes were assigned biweekly, but I was given creative control regarding copy and much of the product selection. For me personally and creatively, this was an opportunity to promote equity, education, and inclusion in a relatively gentle way to those who were reticent to understand those topics, and to reflect the organization’s outward values. My second favorite thing about this type of copy is trying to carry a theme through an entire email, with consideration to pop culture references that a variety of different demographics within the constituent universe might understand and enjoy. Below is a selection of some of my top goofy, nerdy excerpts and references to scientific concepts that I either had to Google or ask an actual scientist about.

I am also responsible for updating the retail homepage.
